Playground Summer Work Party!
July 18 and 19

Volunteers for Summer Work Party Needed
We are  building the majority of our playground this summer!
We will be installing a new play structure, spinning teacups, turning bars, a toss up basketball hoop, and an X-Wave. We need volunteers to help  build! The equipment will be built on Saturday, July 18, and wood  chips need to be spread on Sunday, July 19. Please contact Stacy Denuski, 425-486-7838 denuski@yahoo.com  if you can help!
Childcare for children that are potty trained will be  provided on July 18.

Summer Play Date!

Come check out the new playground at Kenmore Elementary and meet other kindergarten families.  Meet at the playground Saturday, August 15 , from 1-3 pm for this informal play time.

Elementary Summer Academy

Registration is now closed!
Elementary Summer Academy and Technology Camp will be held at Woodmoor Elementary. Classes will start July 6 and end July 31 for Summer Academy, class hours are 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, and tuition is $360 per child.  Technology Camp will run from July 6-July 17 and has two sessions: 8:30-11:30 AM or 12:30-3:30 PM. Tuition is $195 per session.

Head Start at Kenmore

Head Start helps children get ready for school. Our program at Kenmore Elementary is a FREE, part-day pre-school program for 3 and 4 year olds. To qualify, your family must meet income guidelines.

If you would like to speak with someone about our program, please call Barbara Stratton at 425-408-4861. Interpreters are available. Feel free to leave a message in your home language. Applications are also available in the Kenmore Elementary school office.

Head Start Registration

We are currently accepting applications for the on-site Head Start pre-school program for the 2009-2010 school year. This program serves eligible low-income families.

We primarily serve children who are four years old before 8/31/09, but will also accept applications for those turning three before 8/31/09.

Applications are available at Kenmore Elementary. Applicants will need to submit proof of income, immunization record, and birth certificate with the application. For more information call Barbara Stratton at 425-408-4861.

Free and Reduced Lunch Program

Families may apply for free and reduced meals with the Northshore School District at any time during the school year.

Family incomes that fall within specified guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture may qualify. If families qualify they may also be eligible for reduced fees for other school programs such as field trips and participation fees for sports.

Applications are available at all schools or by request from the Northshore Food Service Office at 425-408-7822.

Kindergarten Registration at Kenmore Elementary

Students entering kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2009. You may pick up a registration packet from our school office.

Please bring the following information with you when you register your child:
* Proof of residency (rental agreement, utility bill, mortgage bill, etc)
* Child's birth certificate
* Child's immunization records
* Emergency contact information

* Daycare information

Kenmore Playground
Our PTA is heading Kenmore's Playground Restoration Project.
View the Playground Restoration website to see what is planned
and find out how you can support these efforts!

All donations of at least $100 will be honored by an engraved brick! Please Buy a Brick for the Playground! We hope that this fundraiser will raise the remaining $30,000 needed to install our playground this summer, so please spread the word!

School and Community Fliers
Interested in Cub Scouts, Brownies, Little League, or other community organizations? Fliers  about non-profit community programs are posted on the Northshore School District "Approved Fliers" website. School or PTA fliers may still be distributed at the school.

Subscribe to the district's "Approved Fliers" webpage to receive an email alert when a new flier is posted. To subscribe, go to that webpage , click on the "subscribe to this page" link at the bottom of  that webpage , and follow the directions.  You can unsubscribe at any time.

Paw Prints Subscriptions
If you would like to subscribe to Kenmore  Elementary's Paw Prints, send an email to KELParents-join@lists.nsd.org . A confirmation message will be sent to your email address. Do a simple reply to that message and you will be added to the list.

You can cancel your subscription at any time by sending an email to KELParents-leave@lists.nsd.org and replying to the confirmation message that is sent.

If you do NOT have access to the internet, your student can pick up a copy of the newsletter in the school office.
