Kokanee Summer Reading Program

Every year, the Kokanee PTA sponsors a summer reading program. In September, students return their log books and are awarded prizes based on how many minutes they read. Students who read 1000 minutes (or 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week) during the summer are invited to attend a free bowling party at Kenmore Lanes (Sept. 21st) and get a free book of their choice. Students who read 500 minutes (or 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week) during the summer get a free book of their choice.

This year, the Kokanee PTA is teaming up with the King County Library System (KCLS) for our summer reading program. Many children already participate in the KCLS summer reading program. To make our reading program easier than ever, we are using the KCLS log books for our summer reading program.

KOKANEE ELEMENTARY MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to foster the intellectual growth of our students. We will: work to develop the students' skills in reading, writing, and mathematics; help students to apply these skills in the analysis and use of information to reason, think, and create; and we will also guide our students toward developing a feeling of self worth, good character and citizenship, pride in their work, along with a respect for others and an awareness of the diversity found in schools and society.
